Woman appears in Kempton Park court after man’s murder

Denise Hattingh, a former hairdresser, was arrested a day after Markus Greeff (29) was killed in Pomona on May 15.

The murder case against former Kempton Park hairdresser Denise Hattingh was today postponed to next Thursday.

Hattingh is accused of killing 29-year-old Markus Greeff on May 15 at a property on West Street in Pomona. When she appeared in the Kempton Park Regional Court this morning, the state and Hattingh’s defence requested a postponement to next week to discuss a possible plea deal.

Hattingh was arrested on May 16 after police issued a lookout for her in connection with Greeff’s murder the previous night.

According to Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Dipuo Ditshego, on May 15 police responded to the scene of a murder at a property on West Road.

“When police arrived at the property, they found Greeff’s body,” says Ditshego.

She adds that it is believed Greeff had been strangled with a cable.

Ditshego confirms that Sec Pros security personnel were on patrol around Brentwood Park when they saw a woman matching the description given for Hattingh.

“She was apprehended, and detective Captain Richard Moloi, who attended the scene of the murder, drove to Brentwood Park,” adds Ditshego.

“The woman was taken to the Kempton Park Police Station, where she was charged with murder.”
