Watch: Narrow Macau GP circuit becomes multi-million-rand demolition derby
Here is a look at some of the costly crashes that the Macau GP has been host to in the recent past.
Taking place this weekend, the Macau GP which snakes its way through some narrow sections of the city has become notorious for multi-million pileups in the past. The 6.1km loop has existed in more or less the same format since 1954 with the event being held on 68 occasions since then.

As the years have gone by, cars have inadvertently become larger which means the barriers adjacent to the tarmac have become perilously closer to the action. In the video below, there is some expensive carnage courtesy of the Greater Bay Area GT Cup (GT4 and GT3), TCR Asia Challenge, Macau Roadsport Challenge and Macau Formula 4 categories.
The more familiar models being involved in the unfortunate tussle with the barriers and other cars include Audi RS3s, Honda Civic Type Rs and battle-ready AMGs. This begs the question, is the circuit simply too narrow to allow for full attack racing?
