Watch: Easter traffic chaos in Limpopo as drivers overtake into oncoming lane
Motorists were filmed driving into oncoming traffic near Kranskop Toll Plaza, raising safety concerns as Easter holiday traffic volumes peak.
A video shared by TrafficSA on X shows motorists driving in the oncoming lane near Kranskop Toll Plaza in Modimolle, Limpopo, creating a dangerous situation for other road users.
Polokwane Review reports that, with no police or traffic control visible in the video, drivers appear to be turning a two-lane road into a three-lane stream of traffic during the busy Easter travel period.
Traffic violations caught on camera
The footage shows a line of vehicles on the N1 South overtaking in the opposite lane near Kranskop, forcing oncoming traffic to the edge of the road while creating a hazardous situation for all road users.
The incident comes as traffic volumes increase across major routes, with thousands of travellers heading home following the Easter weekend.

Authorities urge caution
Authorities have repeatedly warned motorists against reckless behaviour, particularly illegal overtaking, which significantly increases the risk of head-on collisions.
Traffic officials have urged drivers to remain patient, obey road markings, and avoid taking unnecessary risks, even in heavy congestion.
Limpopo Transport Department spokesperson Mashudu Mabata meanwhile shared the latest traffic count at the Nyl Plaza:
