Video: Joburg man shot dead in early morning shooting
Family members gathered in South Hills to comfort a grieving parent after an early morning attack claimed her 24-year-old son.
“Mahle, Mahle,” a grieving mother cried out as her 24-year-old son’s body was prepared for removal after he was fatally shot in South Hills in the early hours of Monday morning (October 12), reports the Southern Courier.
Mahle Mfaxa, from South Hills, was visiting a relative, Xoliswa Mfaxa, when he was shot at the corner of Quantock and Swinburne roads at around 06:00.
Family members and others at the scene tried to comfort his mother and keep her from approaching her son’s body as she struggled to come to terms with his death.
Moffat View SAPS officers, forensic investigators and emergency services personnel attended the scene, along with members of the public.
Mahle’s body was later removed.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear. Police are investigating, and no arrests have been made.
Two men killed in separate Rosettenville shooting
In an unrelated shooting on September 30, two men were shot dead at a rented house on Berg Street in Rosettenville.
Neighbours reportedly heard between six and eight gunshots and saw four occupants in a grey Toyota Corolla. Two men allegedly entered the house while the other two remained in the vehicle.
The circumstances surrounding the Rosettenville shooting are also under investigation.
