Teenage boy stabs alleged rapist in KZN

A suspect who was being sought for the rape of minor boys was stabbed by a teenager who woke up while being sodomised.

A boy who was being raped managed to retrieve his pocket knife and repeatedly stabbed his alleged attacker in Tongaat, KZN, yesterday.

Prem Balram, the spokesperson for Reaction Unit South Africa, says their members were dispatched to Temple Drive in Mitchell Village just before 23:00 after receiving reports that a seriously injured man was lying on the side of the road.

“On arrival, reaction officers located the 47-year-old man bleeding profusely from his injuries. He informed Rusa members that he was the victim of a robbery.”

Balram says reaction officers called the police to the scene.

“On arrival, police confirmed that a teenager was at the police station registering a case of rape. The description of the suspect was similar to that of the injured man.

“According to the [teenager], he was approached by a man who offered him a drink. The boy lost consciousness after he consumed the liquid.”

He woke up in a bush while the accused was allegedly sodomising him. The victim retrieved his pocket knife and repeatedly stabbed his attacker before he fled to the Tongaat SAPS to report the matter.

“The teenager arrived on scene and confirmed that the injured man was the same individual who raped him.”

Balram says it is believed that the suspect was being sought for the sexual assault of other minor boys.
