Teen missing after snorkelling in Mozambique
Search efforts for an 18-year-old who vanished at Ponta do Ouro Beach are underway.
Rikus Kylander (18), a matriculant from Hoërskool Noordheuwel in Krugersdorp, has been reported missing after disappearing in Mozambique yesterday at about 13:00.
Krugersdorp News reports that, according to his sister, Clarise Kylander, Rikus went snorkelling with a group of friends at Ponta do Ouro Beach.
When the group got out of the water, they realised Rikus was no longer with them and immediately alerted lifeguards and the police, Clarise says.
While reports on social media have stated that Rikus has been found, Krugersdorp News contacted Clarise, who confirmed that this is not the case.
Rikus is about 180cm tall, with a muscular yet slim build and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a blue swimming costume.
Clarise appealed to anyone who may have seen Rikus or who has information about his whereabouts to contact one of the following numbers (international SIM cards):
- Piet: +27 78 996 9392
- Evan: +27 71 889 2538
- Anzel: +27 82 775 5426
- Clarise: +27 82 659 0238
