Teen among 9 murder suspects nabbed in Durban
Extortion and murder suspects to line up in the dock in Durban Magistrate’s Court following their arrest in Umbilo.
A 19-year-old suspect is among the nine accused set to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court to face charges of extortion, murder and armed robbery following their arrest in Glenmore, Umbilo, today.
The wanted suspects were arrested on Grundel Road in Glenmore by SAPS members of Operation Vala UMgodi.
KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda says police received information on the suspects’ location in Umbilo and pounced on them.
“Police conducted an intelligence-driven operation and investigations which led them to the residence.
“The operation resulted in the arrest of nine suspects, aged between 19 and 40. The suspects are believed to be involved in extortion, murder, armed robberies and drug-related activities in the eThekwini District.”
During the raid, police recovered two pistols, a rifle magazine and 173 rounds of ammunition of various calibres of firearms, as well as drugs.
