Suspect shot during high-speed police chase in Centurion

During a high-speed chase, a suspect shot at police and drove into oncoming traffic in the Centurion area.

A suspect was wounded when shot during a high speed chase with the police on Old Johannesburg Road.

Police received information about a stolen vehicle travelling on the N1.

The vehicle was spotted on the N1 going towards Pretoria.

When the police attempted to stop the vehicle, a shootout ensued between them and the suspect.

According to a police report, the vehicle, which had false number plates, was driving on the wrong side of the road during the chase.

And after crashing into a wall at a residence, the vehicle came to a standstill and the suspect attempted to flee but was shot and arrested by the police.

One unlicensed firearm and ammunition were found in the car as well as stolen cellphones.

Police are investigating to see if the suspect is linked to other crimes.

The police said the necessary documentation was completed and that the scene was processed accordingly.
