Suspect jumps from bridge after incident in Midrand

There are still several unanswered questions after a late-night incident at a fuel station near New Road.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any arrests were made or if there were injuries following a crime scene that police responded to last night at a fuel station along the N1 southbound near New Road in Midrand.

Emergency services and law enforcement officers responded to the scene at about 19:14, reports Midrand Reporter.

Midrand Reporter previously reported that according to information from sources at the scene, the incident is believed to have stemmed from an attempted robbery or hijacking that went wrong.

Unconfirmed reports also suggest that the suspect jumped from the New Road bridge during the incident.

Midrand Reporter contacted the Johannesburg District corporate communications co-ordinator, Mpho Tshetlhane, for comment. Tshetlhane said she is still following up on the matter and will provide an update once further information becomes available.
