‘Speeding’ Quantum kills boy in Sebokeng

Community members retrieved the boy’s body from under the vehicle after the accident.

A 10-year-old boy was killed after he was struck by a minibus taxi while he was playing with friends in the street in Zone 11 in Sebokeng on May 2.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane says a Toyota Quantum was seen driving at high speed from a nearby house. The vehicle allegedly hit the boy before crashing through a fence and coming to a standstill against a wall.

“The community members acted bravely to retrieve the lifeless body of a 10-year-old boy under the Quantum and he was declared dead by EMS,” Mokhachane said.

Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.

Mokhachane urged the community members to keep their children safe.
