Shots fired during armed robbery at Polokwane mall

A man, said to be Indian, was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash after armed robbers fired shots at the banking entrance.

The centre management at Savannah Mall in Polokwane has confirmed that there were no injuries reported after an armed robbery at the mall earlier today.

A group of armed men robbed a man, said to be Indian, of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Mall manager Janene Wessels says gunshots were fired by several males at the banking entrance, but she could not provide further information at the time of publishing.

She, however, notes the police and emergency services were quick to respond.

Wessels could not rule out that the shooting was planned and that the victim may have been followed as he was carrying a substantial amount of cash.

Accounts from onlookers suggest the man was en route to make a transaction at an ATM when the incident occurred.

Polokwane Review has contacted local police and await comment.
