Shooting outside Roodepoort gym: Victim believed to be gang leader

A gruesome morning as an alleged bigwig of a Westbury gang was gunned down upon leaving the facility in Constantia Kloof.

Following reports of the ongoing gang violence in Florida, Roodepoort, where suspected Fast Guns gang leader Keenan Sheldon Ebrahim was shot dead on February 23, it is alleged that the bigwig of their rival gang was gunned down in a drive-by shooting as he left Virgin Active around 09:00 yesterday.

According to Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, the Gauteng police’s communications officer, two unknown men approached the victim and fired several shots. He was declared dead on the scene.

It is suspected the victim was shot in the head multiple times on 14th Avenue in Constantia Kloof.

According to a report from Honeydew police, they are investigating a case of murder following this fatal shooting. The motive of the shooting is unknown at this stage and no suspects have been arrested yet.

The police urge the public to come forward with any information about this case that would assist in the investigation and to contact the Crime Stop hotline on 08600 10111.
