Sebokeng killer sentenced after brutal attack on mother and son

A man has been jailed after stabbing a mother and killing her son in a violent home attack in December 2024.

The regional court in Sebokeng recently convicted and sentenced 28-year-old Lebohang Sello Salmane to 15 years in prison for murder and attempted murder.

According to Sedibeng Ster, the case was investigated by detective Sergeant Tshepiso Tsiame.

Local police spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane says the incident occurred on December 4, 2024, when the mother of the deceased, 27-year-old Mzimkhulu Nhlapo, entered her home in Zone 13, Sebokeng, and found Salmane inside.

When questioned, Salmane claimed he was looking for Nhlapo.

During their conversation, Salmane tied up Nhlapo’s mother and stabbed her. Nhlapo was later found with his hands and feet bound, stabbed multiple times, and the murder weapon was discovered on his body.

“Nhlapo’s mother sustained injuries and received medical treatment. Following the incident, Salmane fled the scene. With the assistance of anonymous tip-offs, he was traced and apprehended on December 16, 2024 in Botshabelo, Free State,” Mokhachane says.

Sebokeng SAPS station commander Brigadier Thembekile Kubone commended Tsiame for the successful investigation.
