Pretoria woman shot, abducted and beaten in home invasion

A woman survived a terrifying home invasion in which she was shot, abducted, and forced to transfer money to three attackers.

A Pretoria woman endured a terrifying ordeal yesterday morning when she was attacked in her home, shot, and abducted by three attackers who forced her to make financial transfers while on the run.

According to a statement by Hercules Community Policing Forum Sector 4, the woman was found in a back alley near the route leading to Jasmyn and Xanadu.

She was barefoot and covered in blood.

“At 08:04 this morning, Nico from the CPF received a call from a Sector 4 resident, Pieter Jones.

“Just before 02:00 on Tuesday morning, there was a home invasion on a plot in Van der Hoff Road, on the North West side. The woman was attacked while she was in bed and was shot in the leg by three assailants,” the statement reads.

The attackers forced her to walk with them in her nightclothes, without shoes, through dark areas near Sunway Village.

She was forced to transfer money to them, and they also contacted her family, demanding further payments. Her brother reported the incident to the police at approximately 02:05.

“As they moved along, the woman struggled to keep up and was beaten with a crowbar whenever she fell behind.”

Hercules CPF Sector 4 took the woman, who was in severe shock and in dire need of medical attention, to Sector 4’s Community Centre.

“An ambulance and SAPS Harties were contacted. The woman received the necessary medical care, and her brother was notified. Detectives from SAPD Hartbeespoort arrived at the centre to investigate.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who responded promptly and provided assistance to the woman.”
