Polokwane security boss gunned down

A well-known businessman was found dead next to his Ford Ranger in the middle of the street.

Limpopo police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered an immediate manhunt following the fatal shooting of a well-known, Polokwane-based security company owner.

Polokwane Review reports that the 43-year-old man was shot and killed on Tuesday night at around 23:30 in Mankweng Unit A.

Police were summoned to the scene following reports of a shooting and, upon arrival, discovered a white Ford Ranger double cab with Gauteng registration plates parked in the middle of the road.

The body of the victim was found lying next to the vehicle. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.

Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says some of the deceased’s personal belongings, including cellular phones and a laptop, were found inside the vehicle.

“A case of murder was opened at the Mankweng Police Station and has since been transferred to the Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit for further investigation. At this stage, the motive for the killing remains unknown, and no arrests have been made,” says Ledwaba.

Hadebe condemned the killing and instructed police to mobilise all available resources to track down those responsible.

“Police investigations are continuing, with a thorough probe underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.”

Anyone with information that may assist police is urged to contact Colonel Richard Boshomane on 079 894 5501, Warrant Officer Phaladi Makola on 082 749 2233, Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or report to the nearest police station.
