Police are appealing to the public to assist in locating the man in picture as it is believed he can provide information in the case.

The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is seeking the community’s assistance in tracing a suspect wanted in connection with a rape that recently took place in the Fochville area.

According to West Rand District Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya, a woman was walking at a four-way stop one morning in June, at about 06:35, when a silver-grey Ford Fiesta with two unknown men stopped next to her indicating they were heading in the same direction. The woman alleges that at her designated destination the driver did not stop. This man, who was wearing blue jeans, a blue T-shirt, blue blazer and black tekkies, was aggressive and speaking isiZulu.

While the woman was sitting on the back seat, another man in the passenger seat turned around and reportedly assaulted her.

The driver turned off onto another road and stopped at an open space. He then jumped out of the car, opened the back door where the victim was sitting and forcefully dragged her from the vehicle. The suspects allegedly undressed her and raped her. A case of rape was opened.

Police have launched a manhunt for the man in the image and are appealing to the public to assist with information that can lead to his whereabouts. Police believe that he can provide valuable information relating to the incident.

Anyone with information may call FCS detective Constable Mushamula on 081 407 3109 or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111. The public can also use the MySAPS app or SMS 32211. You may choose to remain anonymous.
