Pietermaritzburg man accused of raping 4 boys

The man accused of raping four boys, aged five, 10, 13 and 14 in Imbali, Pietermaritzburg, in Imbali, Pietermaritzburg, over at least two years has abandoned his bid for bail in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court.

The 42-year-old man was arrested earlier this year. His identity cannot be revealed at this stage due to the nature of the allegations.

The Witness reported that according to the charge sheet, the first case dates to January 2022 when the man allegedly raped a 10-year-old boy in Imbali Unit 18.

The same child was allegedly raped on several occasions between January 2022 and February 2024.

A 14-year-old boy was also allegedly raped, but the specific date of the incident has not been recorded in the charge sheet.

The man also faces charges of allegedly raping two boys, aged five and 13, on or around February 23, also in Imbali.

At his first court appearance, residents from Imbali protested outside the court, calling for him to be denied bail.

The man remains in custody and will appear in court for the regional court allocation on July 8.
