A 63-year-old Crossmoor, KZN, man is in critical condition after he and his dog were shot during a violent attempted home invasion yesterday.

Rising Sun reports that Captain Cheryl Pillay, spokesperson for Chatsworth SAPS, says the man had just parked his car and was closing his driveway gate when he was ambushed by an armed gang.

He tried to flee but was shot multiple times. His dog Kai, who attempted to protect him, was also shot and later died from her injuries.
