Oprah Winfrey school to transfer to Gauteng Education Department
In line with the original partnership agreement, the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy will be handed over to the provincial government after the 2027 academic year.
The Gauteng Department of Education has announced that following the completion of the 2027 academic year, the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, based in Henly0n-Klip will officially transition to the department, reports Sedibeng Ster.
This, the department said, is in line with the original partnership agreement.
“We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Ms Oprah Winfrey for her remarkable 20-year commitment to transforming the lives of South Africa’s young women through quality education, leadership development and opportunity.”
The department said that it remains committed to preserving and building on the academy’s legacy of excellence, ensuring that future generations continue to benefit from its vision and impact.
