Murdered 2-year-old: Alberton couple in high court

A young girl died from wounds she sustained 12 days before her death, inflicted by her parents who have now been convicted.

The Alberton North couple charged with killing their two-year-old daughter appeared in the Johannesburg High Court on Thursday for a pre-sentence report.

The Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court found the married couple guilty on five counts, including murder, rape, two acts of child abuse, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The matter was transferred to the Johannesburg High Court because of the recess period.

Forensic analysis revealed that the child died from wounds reportedly sustained 12 days before her death on May 15, 2021.

The matter was postponed to September 16 because the court has not seen the pre-sentence report. Both offenders were taken into custody.
