Several people were hurt when a fire broke out at one of Durban’s hotels earlier today.
Just after 10:00 this morning, Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedics received reports of a fire in the Albany Hotel on Smith Street.
On the scene, the ALS paramedics, the eThekwini Fire Department and other ambulance services treated multiple patients for smoke inhalation.
According to Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for ALS paramedics, “ALS Paramedics Medical Services arrived on the scene to find the eThekweni Fire Department busy fighting the blaze. A quick triage system was set up, and multiple people were treated for smoke inhalation on the scene.
“Two people from the hotel were stabilised on the scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being transported to hospital for further treatment.”
At this stage, the events leading up to the fire are unknown, however, SAPS, together with the eThekweni Fire Department, will be investigating further.
