Motorist robbed by armed men posing as police on the N3 near Estcourt

Using flashing blue lights, armed men posing as police officers stopped and robbed a motorist in KZN.

Estcourt SAPS are investigating an armed robbery in which criminals allegedly impersonated police officers on the N3 near Estcourt, reports the Northern Natal News.

The incident took place on Thursday night when a motorist travelling from Durban to Johannesburg was stopped by a white van with flashing blue lights.

The robbers, reportedly wearing police uniforms, allegedly forced the motorist and a passenger to stop and robbed them at gunpoint before fleeing the scene.

Police say the culprits’ identities and the registration number of the vehicle remain unknown, and investigations are ongoing to determine whether the robbers were genuine officers or criminals posing as law enforcement.
