Missing woman found dead in shallow grave near Bloemfontein
A 34-year-old farm worker has been arrested after police found the body of his missing girlfriend buried in the Kloofeind area.
Police have discovered the body of a missing 27-year-old woman buried in a shallow grave on a farm in the Kloofeind area, outside Bloemfontein, yesterday, reports the Bloemfontein Courant.
According to Free State police spokesperson, Thabo Covane, the discovery followed crime intelligence investigations, with the grave allegedly pointed out by the 34-year-old suspect, who is a farm worker and the victim’s boyfriend.
“Police crime scene experts exhumed the decomposed remains at the farm along the N8 between Bloemfontein and Petrusburg,” Covane said.
A case of murder and defeating the ends of justice has been opened at Parkweg Police Station.
Covane further add that the suspect had previously reported the woman missing, claiming she disappeared on January 17.
“A missing person case was registered on January 30, during which the suspect allegedly gave police false information about her whereabouts,” he said.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
Investigations are ongoing.
