May 29 is Elections Day: Hurry if you haven’t registered to vote

If you want to help choose the government that will create and enforce South Africa’s legislation for the next five years, you must register to vote as soon as possible.

Registration for the national and provincial elections will close as soon as the president proclaims the election date in the Government Gazette.

The elections will take place on May 29, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced yesterday.

As such, the election date is expected to be proclaimed in the Government Gazette soon. Once this happens, voter registration will close.

This means that if you have not yet registered to vote, you do not have long to do so.
