Mangaung municipality senior manager shot dead

A 48-year-old Mangaung Metro Municipality employee was shot dead while in his car with a colleague who was not shot.

A senior manager (48) within the infrastructure department at the Mangaung Metro Municipality was fatally shot, allegedly while driving home from work.

“It was on Wednesday at about 15:45 when a 48-year-old African male left his office from Mangaung Metro Municipality offices,” states local police spokesperson Captain Lorraine Earle.

“He was driving in his vehicle with a colleague. An unknown shooter approached the car and allegedly fired shots at the driver’s side.”

According to the spokesperson, police found four empty cartridges near the vehicle, and declared the victim dead at the scene.

“His colleague was not shot, but received treatment for shock,” confirms Earle.

The deceased’s particulars will not be released until his next of kin have been formally notified.

Police are currently investigating the murder, but no arrests have been made.
