Man wanted for rape and conspiracy to commit murder in the Free State

Police have urged the public to exercise extreme caution when meeting individuals from social media platforms, amid a manhunt for a suspect wanted for a series of offences, including rape and conspiracy to commit murder.

Bloemfontein Courant reports police in Kopanong and Parkweg in the Free State have appealed to victims and anyone with information regarding the suspect’s current whereabouts to come forward.

Warrant issued

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli, a warrant of arrest has been issued by the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court for 32-year-old Lloyd Mcdonald Siswe Jacobs following an incident that took place on May 11, 2025, at Muirfield Flats in North End Street, Navalsig.

“It is alleged that the 35-year-old victim met a man, known to her at the time as ‘Shane Carson,’ via Facebook. The suspect invited the victim to his residence for their first date. Upon arrival, the suspect allegedly served the victim juice, after which she began to feel physically exhausted and disoriented,” Kareli explained.

Allegations and investigation

Kareli added that the suspect then reportedly moved the victim to the bathroom, where he allegedly proceeded to rape her. The victim managed to escape the premises after she was allowed to step out for fresh air.

“Investigations reveal that Jacobs utilises social media platforms, specifically Facebook, to lure and target victims under false identities. Furthermore, the suspect is also wanted in connection with a conspiracy to commit murder case currently being investigated by Parkweg SAPS.”
