Man gunned down in suspected targeted attack in Middelburg

The victim was reportedly shot at close range outside his home near Hlalamnandi, shortly after parking his vehicle.

A man was fatally shot outside his home in Rondebosch, Ext 35, near Hlalamnandi yesterday, in what appears to be a targeted attack.

Middelburg Observer reports that the incident occurred at about 20:00 while the victim was closing his gate after parking his vehicle.

It is understood that the assailants opened fire on him at close range, leaving him fatally wounded.

Emergency responders declared the man dead on the scene.

According to a trusted source (who wants to stay anonymous) police later recovered several bullet cartridges, both inside and outside the property, indicating that multiple shots were fired during the attack.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed, and his name cannot be released at this stage as he has not been formally identified.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and no arrests have been made.

Police have launched an investigation and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
