Man found dead in White River water canal
Police have asked for the community’s assistance to find the relatives of a man who was found dead in a water canal.
The White River police in Mpumalanga are investigating a case of murder after the naked body of a man was discovered inside a water canal near a bus terminal on Saturday.
According to White River Police Station’s spokesperson Sergeant Funeka Mathebula, the body was discovered by community members passing the water canal.
“When the police arrived, paramedics were called to the scene and the man was declared dead. The cause of death is currently unknown.
“Anyone who [has] a relative who has gone missing is requested to immediately get in contact with the police in White River,” Mathebula says.
She adds the victim is African, dark in complexion, slender and about 1.6m tall. He is estimated to be over 50 years old.
