Male nurse allegedly rapes pregnant patient in KZN

The police say no one has been arrested after a male nurse allegedly raped a pregnant woman at a clinic earlier this month.

A pregnant woman was allegedly raped by a male nurse at a clinic in KZN on Monday, September 2.

A case of rape has been reported to the Mtubatuba SAPS following the alleged incident at the Sipho Zungu Clinic in Khula Village.

SAPS spokesperson Captain Justice Hlabisa said no one has been arrested after the matter was reported and a case of rape was opened.

The area’s councillor, Ntokozo Mlungwana has strongly condemned the incident.

“The office of the councillor has contacted the head of the clinic, as well as the head of Hlabisa Hospital, and it was stated that the matter has been reported to the department, which will take the necessary steps,” said Mlungwana.

The councillor added that he believes the long arm of the law will play its role and justice will be served.

“We wish to convey our unhappiness with this issue as it is about the victimisation of a woman, as we have recently concluded Women’s Month. We will follow up on this matter until we get proper answers,” said Mlungwana.
