KZN police kill 2 linked to multiple murders in KwaNgcolosi

Two suspects linked to at least four murder cases in the Hillcrest policing precinct were killed in a shoot-out with police.

Two suspects wanted in connection with multiple murders, including the killing of an elderly woman and a teenage girl, were shot dead during a shoot-out with police in KwaNgcolosi, near Hillcrest, early this morning.

The Witness reports that KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda says the suspects were linked to at least four murder cases within the Hillcrest policing precinct.

Among the cases under investigation is the recent double murder of an 84-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl.

Netshiunda says officers acted on intelligence regarding the suspects’ whereabouts and tracked them to a rondavel on Mkhelekehleni Road, where they were believed to be sleeping.

Shoot-out with police

When police arrived at the scene, a shoot-out broke out between police and the suspects.

“Two suspects were shot and fatally wounded during the shoot-out,” says Netshiunda.

He adds that cases of attempted murder of police officers have been opened as part of the investigation.

No police officers were injured during the exchange of fire.
