KZN father sentenced to 4 life terms for raping his children

Four children, who testified against their father, explained the trauma they experienced after he raped them on several occasions.

The Eshowe Regional Court recently sentenced a Mandeni man to four life imprisonment terms for raping his four biological, minor children.

North Coast Courier reports that the 41-year-old had raped the children while their mother was not at home.

The children were between the ages of two and eight at the time of the rapes, which took place from 2015 to 2019.

According to the victims, the father would call them when they were playing outside and rape them inside the home.

The man would threaten them to prevent them from disclosing the rape to their mother.

The mother opened a case at Mandeni SAPS after noticing the children’s injuries. The case was transferred to the iLembe District FCS Unit and was investigated by Sergeant Brian Mehlo Mbalane.

Despite the man pleading not guilty and denying the allegations against him, the diligent work of the investigating officer ensured the man remained in custody throughout the trial and was denied bail.

“The four children testified against their father and explained [the] trauma [they] experienced after their father had raped them on several occasions. The victim’s medical records confirmed the children’s injuries were related to the rape.

“The man was sentenced to life imprisonment for each count of rape, and his name was ordered by the court to be entered in the National Register for Sex Offenders. He was declared unfit to possess a firearm,” says iLembe police communication official, Priya Nunkumar-Bukum.
