Jordan Hendrikse’s move to the Sharks confirmed
Jordan Hendrikse completes his move to the Sharks, joining brother Jaden and strengthening the squad for the upcoming season.
The Sharks and the Lions have mutually agreed to let Jordan Hendrikse transfer to Durban with immediate effect.
The news was officially confirmed by the Lions this morning, after the two franchises were locked in talks over when Hendrikse would be allowed to start playing for the Sharks.
Hendrikse’s highly-anticipated signing was announced by the Sharks earlier this year, but it was anticipated that contractual issues may delay the flyhalf from moving until the end of the year.
The Lions were initially determined to see Hendrikse fulfill his obligations after announcing last month that he remains under contract until December.
However, a statement from the Lions today confirmed that Hendrikse is now free to move to Durban.
“The Lions Rugby Company and the Sharks have mutually agreed to release Jordan Hendrikse as of July 1,” the statement read.
Hendrikse bid farewell to the Lions, having brought his four-year stint in Johannesburg to an end.
“My time at the Lions has come to an end,” he said.
“I would like to thank everyone at the franchise who made an impact during my journey, from the coaches, office staff and the men and women behind the scenes who have made my stay memorable.”

Hendrikse, who made his Test debut against Wales at Twickenham, will join his brother, Springbok scrumhalf Jaden, and Lions teammate Emmanuel Tshituka at Kings Park, strengthening the 2023/24 Challenge Cup winners’ squad.
