Info sought after 3 killed in 2 separate incidents in Boksburg

A father and son were found dead in a bakkie, while in a separate case a 36-year-old man was shot and killed at a filling station.

Three people were fatally shot in two incidents in the Boksburg North policing precinct on Saturday.

In the first incident, the bodies of two men were discovered inside a white Toyota Hilux at about 19:00 on Rietfontein Road, near Dayan Avenue.

Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo says a security guard noticed the abandoned bakkie and, upon approaching the vehicle, found two men inside, both covered in blood. Paramedics were called to the scene and certified both men dead.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims were father and son, aged 65 and 44. The murders are suspected to be related to taxi violence, although Masondo could not provide further details at this stage. Police are investigating a case of double murder.

Garage shooting

In a separate incident at around 21:00, a 36-year-old man was shot and killed following an armed robbery at the Engen garage on Pretoria Road.

Boksburg North SAPS station commander Colonel Mack Mngomezulu says an armed man demanded all the money in the till from the cashier, took an undisclosed amount of cash and two energy drinks, and shot a man who had parked his company tow truck in front of the garage while leaving the scene.

The victim was shot in the right side of the abdomen and the right thigh. He was taken to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

No arrests have been made, and police are investigating cases of business robbery and murder. A well-placed source told the Boksburg Advertiser that the suspect fled on foot towards the Angelo informal settlement. The owner of the garage declined to comment.

Police are urging anyone with information that could assist in the investigation or lead to the apprehension of the suspects to contact Boksburg North Police Station on 011 960 0100 or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.
