Hijackers kidnap couple, rape woman in Pretoria West

The metro police and SAPS are working together to find the criminals who raped a woman after hijacking her and her husband.

The Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) is urging people to come forward with information relating to a hijacking, kidnapping and rape in Proclamation Hill in Pretoria West on Friday.

According to the TMPD, the incident occurred at around 22:45.

The TMPD’s tactical unit members responded to information about a Nissan hardbody abandoned in Saulsville, Pretoria West.

TMPD spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba says the vehicle was hijacked, and the driver and his wife were inside the car. The hijackers then drove with the victims and raped the woman, he adds.

The police recovered the abandoned vehicle but did not find the hijackers.

“A case of hijacking, kidnapping and rape was opened with the SAPS.”

The TMPD is working with SAPS to apprehend the hijackers.

“The chief of the TMPD, Commissioner Yolanda Faro, condemns this vicious act by criminals and vows that the TMPD will not rest until these suspects are found and arrested,” says Mahamba.

Anyone with information is urged to contact their nearest police station or the TMPD on 012 358 7095/6.
