Golfers discover body wrapped in plastic on Durban pavement

Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of an elderly man’s body on a sidewalk.

The body of an unknown elderly man was discovered by golfers on DLI Avenue in Berea, Durban, this afternoon.

Ensure Security spokesperson Kyle van Reenen says they responded to a call-out at 14:00.

“We received an alert after some golfers in the area of DLI Avenue discovered what appeared to be a body on the sidewalk.

“Our officers were dispatched to investigate and discovered the deceased remains of a white adult male, aged approximately 60, wrapped in a large plastic sheet,” he adds.

Van Reenen says the scene was secured and handed over to the SAPS for further investigation.

“The facts surrounding the incident and the events preceding it are unclear and will be investigated,” he adds.
