Elections 2024: MK not happy with KZN results

Despite new party uMkhonto we Sizwe is flexing its muscles in KZN, taking over 45% of the votes so far, it has lodged an objection with the IEC.

uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) is adamant that the party should have had at least 60% of the votes in KZN. Spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela confirmed that they had lodged objections with the IEC about the system being down for two hours this morning.

He lambasted the IEC for not being transparent about the reasons for the downtime and said the party had filed a Promotion of Access to Information Act application with the IEC two weeks ago to determine whether the system provider would be able to provide the necessary service and back-up needed for the voting process.

Ndhlela said they had received information that the police had arrested someone and called on the IEC to explain what prompted the arrest.

He was, however, satisfied with the party’s overall achievements. At the time of the interview, at around 22:30 tonight, 88% of the votes had been declared and the MK had secured 13.6% of the national vote.
