Ekurhuleni primary school double murder: Second suspect arrested
A man arrested this morning in connection with a double murder at a primary school is expected to appear in court on Monday.
Gauteng police have arrested a second suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of Enxiweni Primary School Principal Nozibele Tabu and administrative assistant Nobantu Njomboni.
Kempton Express reports that the arrest was made in the early hours of this morning, marking another significant development in the investigation.
Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed the arrest this morning.
“The second suspect has been arrested in connection with the double murder that happened on November 18 at Enxiweni Primary School.
“The 35-year-old man is expected to appear [in] the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on Monday, November 24, on two counts of murder. Police investigations are ongoing,” said Nevhuhulwi.
This comes just two days after the arrest of the first suspect, a 26-year-old woman, who was scheduled to make her first court appearance today, also facing murder charges linked to the school shooting.
Tabu and Njomboni were shot and killed inside the administration block of the Thembisa school while preparing for a meeting.
The incident sent shockwaves throughout the community, with provincial leaders, including Premier Panyaza Lesufi and Education MEC Matome Chiloane, visiting the school to offer support to staff and families.
Both arrests form part of an ongoing investigation. Police have not yet confirmed a motive for the attack.
