Durban man fatally shot during an alleged altercation
A man believed to be in his 20s was shot in the head after he allegedly attacked a police officer in Berea.
Investigations are underway following a fatal shooting of a man believed to be in his 20s today at Botanic Gardens Road in Berea, reports the Berea Mail.
According to ALS Paramedics the incident involving a police officer happened at around 07:30 following an altercation.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said paramedics arrived on the scene to find SAPS and multiple security personnel in attendance.
“Paramedics were shown to a male believed to be in his 20s who had sustained a gunshot wound to his head,” said Jamieson.
“It is alleged that the man attacked a SAPS official who retaliated,” he added.
The victim was assessed by paramedics who found that the man had sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene.
“All necessary authorities were in attendance and will be investigating further,” said Jamieson.
The SAPS are yet to comment on the matter.
