Drugs worth over R1.7m recovered in Krugersdorp
Two men are expected to appear in court today after police found drugs at a home in Noordheuwel.
A suburban property in Noordheuwel was the site of a major drug bust on Sunday, after police uncovered narcotics valued at more than R1.7m in both a vehicle and inside the home, reports Krugersdorp News.
The intelligence-driven operation led to the arrest of two suspects, aged 52 and 53. They are expected to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court today.
According to Gauteng Highway Patrol provincial spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, police acted on information about suspected drug activity at the premises.
“Upon arrival, officers requested permission to search the property, which was granted,” Sibeko said.
During the search, police examined a vehicle parked on the property and discovered a bag of drugs with an estimated street value of about R900 000.
A further search of the house led to the discovery of additional drugs worth about R800 000 in a bedroom, resulting in the arrest of the second suspect.
The total value of the seized drugs is estimated at over R1.7m.
