DJ Warras murder case postponed, accused remains behind bars

The man accused of murdering Warrick 'DJ Warras' Stock will remain behind bars as his case was postponed, with the state opposing bail.

A man accused of murdering Warrick ‘DJ Warras’ Stock will remain in custody over the Christmas and New Year period after his case was postponed to January.

The Witness reports that Victor Mthethwa Majola appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court yesterday, where he was formally charged with premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Bail opposed

The state confirmed it would oppose bail. Majola’s legal representative said his client intends to apply for bail and raised concerns about his health, alleging he was assaulted while in police custody.

The magistrate warned Majola that he faces a schedule six offence and could be sentenced to life imprisonment if convicted.

Case postponed

The case was postponed to January 6 for verification of Majola’s address, after which a formal bail application date will be set. Majola was ordered to remain in custody.

Victim

Stock, a well-known media personality, was shot dead on December 16 outside a building near the Carlton Centre in Johannesburg’s CBD.

He was laid to rest on Tuesday following a funeral service in Rosebank.
