Boy (11) found murdered and wrapped in a blanket in Limpopo home
A young boy was found murdered, with a deep, open wound on his neck.
A full-scale investigation into the brutal murder of an 11-year-old boy who was found dead in his home in Mapuve village in Giyani, Limpopo, on Sunday, is underway.
Polokwane Review reports that Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says that when police officers arrived at the house, they were directed to a room where they found a child lying in a pool of blood.
“The victim had a deep, open wound to the neck and was wrapped in a blanket,” he adds.
Emergency medical services pronounced the child dead on the scene.
“The identity of the deceased has been withheld,” says Ledwaba.
According to the preliminary investigation, the children’s mother had allegedly left her three children, aged 2, 5 and 11, alone during the night.
When she returned the following morning, she discovered her oldest child dead inside the room.
Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe condemned the incident and instructed detectives to urgently pursue all leads to establish what happened and who is responsible.
The police are appealing to the community for assistance.
Anyone with information that may aid the investigation is urged to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Michael Shivuri, on 078 496 0728, Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or report anonymously via the MySAPS app.
Investigations are ongoing.
