Boksburg motorist shot: Security officer arrested

A driver who was shot, allegedly by a security officer, is recovering in hospital.

A security officer has been arrested for allegedly shooting and wounding a driver on Main Reef Road in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni, on Saturday.

According to Boksburg North SAPS station commander Colonel Mack Mngomezulu, the security officer allegedly saw a stolen vehicle and gave chase.

“When the driver did not stop his vehicle, the security officer [allegedly] shot and wounded him,” says Mngomezulu.

The driver was taken to hospital.

Mngomezulu did not divulge any other information about the driver or his vehicle.

An investigation is underway.

A skeleton docket (when police open a case on behalf of a victim who is unable to do so) of attempted murder has been opened against the security officer.
