Attempted murder case opened after uMhlanga shooting

An altercation, said to have started inside a well-known nightclub, led to a shooting incident, and one person being arrested.

Durban North police have confirmed one person has been arrested after a shooting incident on McCausland Crescent in the early hours of Saturday morning.

It is alleged that an altercation occurred between two men at about 01:27 in uMhlanga, leading to the shooting.

Police have also confirmed that a case of attempted murder has been opened.

According to Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell, their officers responded to the incident near a well-known nightclub in the area.

“Our armed response officers and members of our Special Operations Team were dispatched to the scene. Initial reports indicated that an altercation inside the nightclub escalated, resulting in security personnel escorting several individuals outside.

“The altercation continued outside the premises, and during this incident, a male was shot and sustained several gunshot wounds. Medical treatment was administered on-site by a private ambulance service assisted by Netcare 911 before the victim was transported to a local hospital,” Powell explains.
