A shot at history: Proteas gear up for T20 World Cup final

Tomorrow’s match stands between the national cricket side and history – so let's hit the support out of the park.

Let’s make history – together! That is the call for support by Cricket South Africa (CSA) as the Proteas Men team hopes to bag their first world cup trophy.

The national cricket side takes on India tomorrow, which has won one T20 final – in 2007, at the inaugural championship.

The match will be played at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, and starts at 16:30 (SA time).

CSA has called on the nation to rally behind the team and head to the fan park at the DP World Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg to watch the final.

What you need to know

  • This is the first time South Africa plays in the final of an International Cricket Council tournament.
  • T20 is the shortest format of the game. Each team plays a single innings, limited to 20 overs (120 balls).
  • The first six overs of each inning are called the Powerplay, during which only two fielders are allowed outside the 30-yard circle, promoting aggressive batting.
  • If the scores are tied, the Super Over is played to determine the winner. This means each team bats for one additional over, and the team with the most runs in this over wins.
