70-year-old man allegedly shoots neighbour in dispute over water in Mpumalanga

A water-related argument between neighbours turned deadly on Sunday.

Ridge Times reports, citing the Facebook page Delmas-wil-Weet, that a disagreement over water ended in a fatal shooting in Eloff, a farming town near Delmas in Mpumalanga, yesterday.

“According to information received, a man was shot in front of his wife and children following an apparent argument related to water,” the post said. The victim was declared dead at the scene.

A 70-year-old man was arrested in connection with the shooting and is expected to appear in the Delmas Magistrate’s Court today.

My journey as journalist in the Delmas area for Streeknuus began in December 2018. Over the past six years I have learned a lot about my community, its people, schools and organisations. What a privilege to have been part of Delmas as kykNET’s town of the year award in 2023 and to follow each and every step of the journey.
