4 sought after woman shot at Roodepoort intersection

Police are hunting for four suspects in a white Polo after a woman was killed in her car at a traffic light.

Police have released more information regarding yesterday’s fatal shooting at the Corlett Avenue and Ontdekkers Road intersection.

Roodepoort Record reports that, according to police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, the victim was a 36-year-old woman.

Nevhuhulwi confirms that police are looking for four suspects driving a white VW Polo.

“One of the suspects shot the victim multiple times before they fled the scene. The motive of the shooting is unknown at this stage, and investigations are underway,” she says.

Nevhuhulwi declines to comment on widespread suspicions that the murder was a targeted hit, saying only that the matter is under investigation.

Traffic brought to a standstill

The newspaper previously reported that traffic was brought to a standstill at the intersection after the woman was shot and killed while sitting in her car at a traffic light.

The victim, driving a grey Kia Rio, was reportedly waiting for the light to change when an unknown assailant fired at least four shots through the closed driver’s side window.
