4 arrested in separate Joburg drug busts
Police have launched an investigation after recovering crystal meth during stop-and-search operations in Roodepoort.
Four suspects were arrested in separate drug-related incidents in Florida and the Roodepoort CBD on Saturday (July 25) after they were allegedly found in possession of crystal meth, reports Roodepoort Record.
According to Johannesburg Flying Squad media liaison officer Raymond Sambo, officers were conducting routine patrols in Florida at about 12:45 when they stopped and searched three men on the corner of Ruth Street and 3rd Avenue.
Police allegedly found crystal meth in the suspects’ possession.
The first suspect was allegedly carrying five packets of the drug with an estimated street value of R700.
The second suspect was found with three packets valued at R400, while the third allegedly had two packets worth an estimated R250.
“All three suspects were arrested for possession of drugs and detained at Florida Police Station for further investigation,” said Sambo.
Later that afternoon, at about 14:20, Flying Squad members stopped and searched another man in Handel Street in the Roodepoort CBD.
He was allegedly found in possession of three packets of crystal meth with an estimated street value of R200.
The suspect was arrested and detained at Roodepoort Police Station for further investigation.
