3 suspected ATM bombers arrested in Ekurhuleni

Stained money and a hijacked vehicle were seized during a raid of three houses.

Three suspects linked to recent ATM bombings were arrested in Palm Ridge, Ekurhuleni, on Wednesday.

According to Donovan du Toit, the operations manager of Fox Security, information was received regarding a syndicate involved in ATM bombings.

A team was established and an operational plan was executed during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Three houses were raided and three suspects were arrested during the operation. Stained money and a hijacked vehicle were seized.

All of the suspects were detained at Eden Park Police Station.

Units involved in the operation were Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Community Liaison Unit, EMPD Intervention Unit, Fox Security, CI Ekurhuleni, ABSA Investigation Unit, EMPD K9, FNB PCM Team, Gauteng Traffic Police, CPS Security, Vusela Intel and the Local Criminal Record Centre Germiston.

“Well done to everyone involved,” says Du Toit.
