3 killed and 3 arrested in Johannesburg South shoot-out

Law enforcement officers descended on numerous suspects linked to over 30 murders.

Three suspects were shot dead and three others were arrested in a shoot-out with a multi-disciplinary law enforcement team in Chrisville, Johannesburg South, yesterday.

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) says it received intelligence-led information about suspects who have been terrorising Johannesburg suburbs, allegedly committing violent crimes, including over 30 murders.

When the team arrived at the identified premises, they were met with gunfire.

The team returned fire and three of the suspects were killed. Three others were wounded and arrested, says the Hawks. More arrests could follow.

The team recovered two unlicensed firearms from the scene. The suspects will appear in court soon.

The team consisted of members from SAPS Head Office Crime Intelligence, Gauteng Traffic Saturation Unit, DPCI Tactical Operations Management Section, Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing, CAP Specialised Operations, Tracker Connect, Badboyz Security, JH Tactical and ISEC Security.
