2 shot dead, 4 arrested in George

Police have launched an investigation to determine if two shootings, in the same street, are linked.

Two men were killed during two separate shooting incidents in Borcherds in Conville, Western Cape, on Friday, and four men were arrested.

According to the Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies, the police were dispatched to a scene in Spandiel Street at 20:55, where they found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim (31) was declared dead by paramedics on the scene.

Minutes later, at 21:00, police were called to another scene in the same street, where a man was shot inside a bungalow.

The victim (19) had gunshot wounds to his chest and arm. He was declared dead by paramedics on the scene.

“An investigation into these incidents immediately commenced and crime scene experts combed the scenes for clues,” says Spies.

The investigation led to the arrest of four men, aged between 29 and 33, on Saturday.

The suspects are due to appear in court tomorrow, on murder charges.

The possibility that these killings are linked and the motive for them are being investigated.
